Rich Picturing: Conversation Mapping
Go Deeper
ACTIVITY 1 Accelerating Knowledge Sharing
Each Catalytic Thinking Lab is supported by a WindTunneling project. WindTunneling is a systemic methodology to accelerate learning and knowledge sharing. Share what you learned from the lab transparently and anonymously. Compare your thinking and respond to the ideas of others. Everyone gets to see every idea; no one knows who shared which idea.
Go to WindTunneling. Use Project Code 7NCV to record your insights.
ACTIVITY 2 Experiential Learning
What did you observe about yourself as a participant in the mapping process?
What did you learn about yourself as an investigative journalist working with your colleagues to decipher the idea commons?
What did you learn about yourself in the process of facilitating this exercise?
ACTIVITY 3 Facilitating Conversation Mapping
Practice facilitating a Conversation Map. Recruit 3-4 colleagues.
Re=watch the lab presentation before you facilitate the exercise. Refer to the chalkboard to manage your process.
Determine a seed idea for the map. Explore an issue outside of your organization. Write the statement in the center of the map and circle it.
When it is filled out, explain to your group how to be investigative journalists.
Cluster the ideas. Identify themes, emergent ideas, and patterns. Record these on an easel, whiteboard, or another sheet of paper.
