Activity 2 – Storytelling Narrative Gathering

Step 1

Watch Activity 2 video. Narrative gathering is a systemic technique to make a rich picture of how, as a group, we understand a complex issue. Everyone in the workplace brings a unique history and experience set.

Step 2

Sit at a table with 6-8 people. Each person tells a 3-minutes story. Tell stories in any order. Tell a story about one of these worldviews and the consequences they experienced. After each story, the storyteller writes each main point of the story on a sticky note (small cards/Miro online).

Step 3

When everyone has told a story. Group all of the sticky notes together and study them. Cluster the ideas to discover themes, patterns, and emergent ideas. Record these insights on a piece of paper (easel or whiteboard).

Step 4

Group discussion.
