ACTIVITY 1  Rich Picturing: Narrative Gathering

Step 1

Sit at tables with 6-8 people.

Identify a topic for Narrative Gathering.

Take 2 minutes for people to quietly reflect on a story for that topic.

Step 2

Tell stories, popcorn style.

After each story, write the main points of it on a note (use paper, Post-It Notes, index cards).

Step 3

After all of the stories, make an idea commons with the notes.

Cluster the notes.

Step 4

Identify patterns, themes, and emergent ideas.

Document them on the large sheet of paper.
