Step 1

Download the Sensemaking Cards handout. This is designed as a 2-sided handout; however, for this exercise you can print only side two or refer to it on the computer. You can also draw your own sense-making framework.

Identify examples of each of the four kinds of issues in your day-to-day life. You can make a simple 2X2 knowledge map and organize them like the chalkboard illustration.

Step 2

Write 1-2 examples of issues from each category of your map on sticky notes.  Participants put their sticky notes on a wall grouped by the sense-making category.

Step 3

Explore and discuss as a group.
