Barrier Analysis of Systemic Methods for Navigating Complex Issues

ACTIVITY 1 Accelerating Knowledge Sharing
Each Catalytic Thinking Lab is supported by a WindTunneling project. WindTunneling is a systemic methodology to accelerate learning and knowledge sharing. Share what you learned from the lab transparently and anonymously. Compare your thinking and respond to the ideas of others. Everyone gets to see every idea; no one knows who shared which idea.
Go to WindTunneling. Use Project Code 77NCB to record your insights.
ACTIVITY 2 Focus on Relationships in Your Organization
Repeat the activity, Focus on Relationships. This time shift your focus to your organization. Make at least 3-4 pairs.
How do these pairs relate to each other specifically in your organization?
How do the policies or culture of your organization reinforce these barriers?
ACTIVITY 3 Personal Barrier Analysis to Systemic Method
Create your own Barrier Analysis Knowledge Map by copying the presentation chalkboard.
Think about 1-2 complex issues that have confronted your organization in the past. Reflect on each barrier. Which of these barriers did you use? What were the outcomes of your actions?
Based on this presentation, what could you have done differently? How might you approach a new complex issue differently?
Record your thoughts on a knowledge map.
