ACTIVITY 1  Coherence Mapping Matrix

Step 1

Work in groups of 2-3 people.
Choose a strategy you are working on in your organization.
Identify the players.

Step 2

Make a coherence mapping matrix on a large sheet of paper. Indicate the players on the vertical and horizontal lines on the matrix.

Step 3

As you work across the matrix, write down what each horizontal player needs from the vertical player.

When they cross with themselves, they look internal. What do they need to do within the organization to improve the complex issue?

Step 4

Once the matrix is filled out, analyze for balance and capacity.

Based on the picture that you see, identify any issues that need to be addressed.
