Activity 1 – Accelerating Knowledge Sharing

Each Catalytic Thinking Lab is supported by a WindTunneling project. WindTunneling is a systemic methodology to accelerate learning and knowledge sharing. Share what you learned from the lab transparently and anonymously. Compare your thinking and respond to the ideas of others. Everyone gets to see every idea; no one knows who shared which idea.

Go to WindTunneling. Use Project Code 44DSW  to record your insights.

Activity 2 – Coherence Mapping

You practiced making a coherence map for a hypothetical situation. Now practice coherence mapping in your organization with something that you are working on at work. For example, you could look at a program you are developing – or even a program you already have up and running.

Draw a coherence circle and identify all of the people and/or departments that have a role in the program. You can add their names or role on the circle instead of using letters. Since you are practicing this, pick something that is relatively uncomplicated from an organizational perspective in order to minimize the number of roles on your coherence circle.

Facilitate the conversations between the various roles you have identified. Record all of the answers on your map. When you have finished, bring everyone together and have a conversation about the map. Imagine what might happen if you used a map like this to support organizational planning.

Activity 3 – Short Essay

Write a short essay (3-5 paragraphs) comparing what you know about organizational planning in your organization with the content presented in this lab. What is the same? What is different? What would demystify mean in your organization?
