Organizational Opportunity Statements and Assumptions
Activity 1 – Refining Opportunity Statements with Assumptions
Step 1
Work in groups (3-4 people) to refine Opportunity Statements for your organization. Create a knowledge map using the chalkboard as a reference.
Step 2
In organizations there are current or new opportunities that you can test. Choose an opportunity from your organization. Write the opportunity simply and connect it to a higher purpose. Enumerate the assumptions that relate to the opportunity.
Step 3
Draw the fraction box. Rate significance and certainty for each assumption. The goal of your research path is to find the indispensable information that you need to become more certain. High significance and low certainty creates the priorities for your research. Who has the information you need? How can you get it?
Step 4
As you are working, members of groups can interact with other groups and look at their work. They can ask questions and add to the group’s thinking.
